The Lineage of the Awakened - At Labia on Orange Aug / Sept 2011
KARMAPA The Lineage of the Awakened 75 minutes; about 2008 | |
| The Karmapas, the great wisdom teachers and miracle workers of Tibetan Buddhism, are the oldest line of identifiable reincarnations in Tibet. This insightful documentary features the 17th (and current) Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, whose miraculous escape from Tibet in 2000 caught world media (“The most powerful teenager in the world” – The Independent UK, 28 April 2001). The film is packed with interesting footage and affords viewers a close-up view of this powerful spiritual leader. Images range from his childhood at Tsurphu, the main seat of the Karmapas in Tibet, to several of the holy Buddhist sites in India, like BodhGaya where the Karmapa leads the annual Kagyu Monlam Prayers for World Peace. Included is rare footage of the 16th Karmapa, and of Thrangu and Gyaltsap Rinpoche. Filmed and edited by Laurence Guy-Lentin. HH the 16th Karmapa is one of the root gurus of Ringu Tulku. Ringu Tulku is the main translator for HH the 17th Karmapa. | |
