Chronicle of one of the great movements of nonviolent resistance in modern history – starting with 15,000 unarmed women taking to the streets in Lhasa, Tibet, to oppose the violent occupation of their country in 1959. Many of them were jailed or exiled. The cultural legacy that is at the heart of Buddhism - compassion, non-violence and peace - carries on through survivors and daughters and granddaughters living in India and all over the globe. They carry the deep cultural and dharma values of the country of their birth.

Interspersed with many anecdotes from His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
